The Caravan Channel is Europe’s original, continuously produced TV show for the caravanning community. Produced and presented by a team of respected caravanners, the fortnightly show regularly reviews caravans, campsites and accessories to keep enthusiasts abreast of the industry’s latest developments. In addition to news and reviews, it also covers special interest caravan stories such as touring abroad, interviews with the major clubs & manufacturers, accessory reviews, beginners guides and much, much more!
The Caravan Channel has been in continuous production since 2006 when independent producer (and keen caravanner) Chris Gosling grew tired of mainstream TV channels consistently ignoring the 2million caravan enthusiasts in the UK. In true caravanning style, he decided to 'do it himself’ and began filming his own TV programme documenting his caravanning experiences. Thus, the Caravan Channel was born and Chris went on to produce a new episode every fortnight till his (well deserved!) retirement in December 2010.
Upon Chris’ retirement, his two partner organisations, Information TV & Sneem Marketing, recognised there were still no other TV shows about motorhomes & caravans broadcasting anywhere. So, a new presenter and updated format was devised, and the Caravan Channel officially relaunched in January 2011 with Phil Widdows at the helm.
Almost 50 episodes later, Phil decided the timing was right to move to pastures new and in October 2012 was replaced by a team of caravanners, spread throughout the country, who all contribute to the show.
The Caravan Channel now partners with Haymarket, to bring fresh content in conjunction with Practical Caravan Magazine. In 2016, The Caravan Channel was rebranded to become Practical Caravan TV.
Practical Caravan TV airs every Monday at 8pm, Wednesday at 6pm, Friday 4pm, Saturday 8pm and Sunday 6pm on Showcase (Sky 212/ Freesat 161/ Freeview 254), with a new episode every other Monday.
